Refund Policy
Journal of Environmental Science and Engineering (JESE) aims to provide a fair and transparent process for all transactions related to manuscript submission, publication fees, and related services. However, as per the nature of academic publishing, the journal's policy generally does not offer refunds after payment has been made. Below are the circumstances under which a refund may or may not be issued:
1. Submission Fees:
- Before Submission: If a manuscript is withdrawn by the author before submission is complete, no submission fee will be charged, and the author will not incur any costs.
- After Submission: Once a manuscript is submitted and the submission fee is processed, it is considered final, and no refund will be issued.
2. Article Processing Charges (APC):
- Before Acceptance: If an article is withdrawn before acceptance or during the peer review process, authors may be eligible for a partial refund of the article processing charge (APC), depending on the stage of the publication process and any administrative costs incurred.
- After Acceptance: Once an article is accepted for publication, the APC is non-refundable, as the article has been processed for publication.
- In Cases of Withdrawal After Acceptance: If an article is withdrawn after acceptance but before publication, a partial refund may be considered based on the extent of the editorial work completed (e.g., typesetting, editing). However, no full refund will be provided after acceptance.
3. Subscription Fees:
- Institutional or Personal Subscriptions: Subscription fees for accessing the journal are non-refundable after payment has been processed. Once the subscription is active, no refunds will be issued, as the access to the journal's content is granted immediately.
- Error in Subscription: In the event of a processing error (e.g., overcharge or duplicate payment), the journal will work with the subscriber to rectify the issue and, where appropriate, issue a refund or credit.
4. Print and Digital Copies:
- Print Orders: Due to the custom nature of print orders, no refunds are provided once an order has been processed, except in cases of delivery errors or damaged items.
- Digital Copies: Digital article purchases are non-refundable once the transaction has been completed and access has been granted to the article or issue.
5. Refund Request Process:
- Authors or subscribers who believe they are eligible for a refund should submit a written request to the editorial office or customer service team. The request should include details about the transaction (e.g., payment date, transaction ID) and the reason for the refund request.
- Refund requests will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis, and the outcome will be communicated within 7–10 business days.
6. Exceptional Circumstances:
- In rare cases, such as significant errors in journal processing or technical issues with online access, the journal may consider offering a refund or credit.
- Any refunds granted under exceptional circumstances will be at the discretion of the editorial board and publisher.
Conclusion:
Journal of Environmental Science and Engineering follows a clear and transparent refund policy to ensure fairness in its financial transactions. Once payments are processed, they are typically non-refundable, but the journal will review refund requests on a case-by-case basis, particularly in exceptional circumstances.
